Military aviators and civilian pilots performed a full day of aerial demonstrations over downtown Louisville April 21 during the Thunder Over Louisville air show, which drew a crowd of more than 500,000 to the banks of the Ohio River.

The Kentucky Air National Guard once again served as the base of operations for dozens of military aircraft participating in the show, providing essential maintenance and logistical support. In one of the day’s marquee events, Special Operators from the unit also performed a parachute insertion into the river, jumping from the rear of a Kentucky Air Guard C-130 Hercules aircraft.
