Maintenance, operations groups welcome new commanders

In a dual change of command ceremony in the 123d Airlift Wing fuel cell, Col. Kenneth J. Dale relinquished command of the 123d Operations Group to Lt. Col. Barry D. Gorter on Sunday, July 18 at 1 p.m.

Colonel Dale then assumed command of the 123d Maintenance Group from Col. Neil T. Mullaney, who is vacating the position to serve a tour with the Kentucky Agricultural Development Team.

Colonel Dale, a Louisville native, enlisted in the Kentucky Air National Guard in 1980 and was commissioned in 1987. His docorations include the Bronze Star, Air Medal, Aerial Achievement Medal and numerous other decorations. He's a veteran of the Kosovo campaign and the Global War on Terrorism.

Colonel Gorter joined the Air National Guard in 1991. He's supported operations in Somalia, Bosnia, Germany, Puerto Rico, Iraq and Afghanistan. His docorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Medal and numerous other decorations.
