SALINA, Kan. -- Members of Kentucky Air Guard's 123rd Contingency Response Group airlifted a mobile command post here June 18 as part of Operation Ardent Sentry, a multi-state homeland defense exercise designed to test the military's ability to respond to enemy attacks or natural disasters.

The 123rd CRG transported equipment and a National Guard Civil Support Team from Iowa as part of the exercise, verifying the team's mobility plan for the first time

Civil Support Teams aid local first-responders in determining the nature of an attack or incident, provide medical and technical advice, and pave the way for follow-on state and federal military assets.
