Kentucky Air Guard participates in African Lion

Tech. Sgt. Jack Neil (left) and Staff Sgt. Jeremy Kelly, engine mechanics with the Kentucky Air National Guard’s 123rd Maintenance Squadron, inspect the engine of a C-130 Hercules after a flight at Naval Station Rota, Spain, on April 26, 2017, during Exercise African Lion. Multiple units from the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force and the Kentucky and Utah Air National Guards conducted multilateral and stability operations training with units from the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces in the Kingdom of Morocco during the exercise, which ran from April 19 to 28. The annual combined multilateral exercise is designed to improve interoperability and mutual understanding of each nation’s tactics, techniques and procedures while demonstrating the strong bond between the nations’ militaries.
