Members of the 123rd Airlift Wing attend a ceremony at the Kentucky Air National Guard Base in Louisville, Ky., Aug 10, 2019, during which the Air Force chief of staff, Gen. David L. Goldfein, presented the Distinguished Flying Cross to a Kentucky Air Guard pilot. The pilot, Lt. Col. John "J.T." Hourigan, earned the medal for decisive action following a catastrophic mechanical failure while flying a C-130 Hercules aircraft during a routine training sortie, saving the lives of six crew members and a $30 million aircraft.
